Now you probably recognize her from somewhere...she's the video vixen in the Lynxxx and Banky W Alabukun video. She is Laura Monyeazo Abebe but goes by the name Moet Abebe. Born 21 years ago in the U.K, Moet lived in Nigeria for 11 years before heading back to the U.K to carry on with her education. The model/dancer/upcoming actress has done campaigns aimed towards black women enforcing the need to be proud of their complexion and worked with the photographer Aubrey Fagon who she says till date is one of her greatest achievements. She's currently studying Law LLB at Manchester University.
"I do not necessarily model to get any sort of reaction. I do it because i enjoy it and it is a way of expressing myself."
So we had a chat with Moet :)
Moet: The work I’m most proud of would be shooting Lynxxx’s and Banky W’s Alabukun video… This is because it was my first official break into the Nigerian entertainment industry.
FB: How did you get into modeling/ acting?
Moet: I started modeling officially last year January to be exact. It was one of those ideas that had always been on my mind. I did my research and luckily for me I got scouted by my then agency and before I knew it I was on a roll. I have worked behind both upcoming and fully established designers. I have gotten so many contacts just from shooting the video alone and I can’t actually wait for the world to see my next moves as I drive to achieve success. As for acting that is definitely part of the industry I intend to explore but I would not exactly label myself an actress until all the foundation is completely set and I can head out on my journey.
Moet: As I said previously I have been modeling for about a year now. I wouldn’t necessarily brand myself as the most experienced but in the past year I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am right now and for that I am extremely proud.
FB: In terms of acting, what kind of actor do you think you are?
Moet: I definitely am the leading lady. I have been blessed with a gift and in some scenarios a curse. I am an extreme extrovert and with this I have found that no matter what I do people notice me. Therefore a producer placing me behind scenes or giving me the role of an extra tends not to suffice.
Moet: Well, I don’t know if this is a talent but I have an extremely flexible back…lol! And slightly double jointed so I can pop my hips in and out of their sockets. Then again that comes from years of dancing.
FB: What were your parent’s reaction towards your modeling career?
Moet: My mother is my rock. It is something I have always maintained along my journey. On the other hand I’m a strong believer in doing things for one self.
FB: Can you do a naked pose?
Moet: I will never pose completely nude! No that I can not do but as a part of a model’s portfolio, some skin does need to be shown especially if we consider the need for a bikini body shot as well as some sort of implied nude. Shots like this can be found in my portfolio.
FB: Define your style?
Moet: My style is very Glamorous! I love getting dolled up, nails done, hair done etc. I am such a sucker for clothes that highlight my curves and make me feel all woman.
FB: In terms of dressing what do you consider as a NO NO?
Moet: I am such a girly girly! I can never be caught all geared up rocking the Tracksuit and trainers look. That look I believe is for the gym and the gym only.
